Remarque générale Agostini lists 14 solutions for this work: the first four are non-canonic because they do not involve the "sexta pars". The solutions involve the Bassus and Sexta pars employing retrograde in the following ways: i. Bass as written from beginning to end. ii Bass starts at the end and goes back to the beginning. iii. Bass goes t the + sign at midpoint and returns to beginning. iv. Bass starts at the end and goes to the + and returns to end. v. As (i) with the sexta pars in canon with the bass at the 12th above. vi. As (ii) with the sexta pars in canon with the bass at the 12th above. vii. As (iii) with the sexta pars in canon with the bass at the 12th above. viii. As (iv) with the sexta pars in canon with the bass at the 12th above. ix. Bass from beginning to end and Sexta pars from end to beginning. x. Bassus and Cantus start at beginning and go to + and return to beginning. xi. Bassus and Cantus start at end, go to + and go back to end. xii. Bassus starts at beginning, Cantus at end, they meet at + and then each returns the way it came. xiii. Bassus starts at end, Cantus at beginning, they meet at + and then each returns the way it came. xiv. Bassus and Cantus both start at end and go to beginning and then back to end again.
